Cultivating peace in daily life.

Join a meditation for peace

Here’s a meditation you might find useful to cultivate inner peace today and throughout the month:

Take a few minutes to sit quietly and identify the inner and outer conflicts in your life today.

Close your eyes, and notice what thoughts and feelings are active. Put your attention on your breathing and take a few deep breaths.

Reflecting on your own traditions and beliefs, connect with what you consider to be a source of peace. For ten to twenty minutes, imagine receiving peace from this source each time you inhale. Let a wave of peace flow though you with each breath. With each exhale, let go of stress, tension, and fatigue. Release the agitation and turmoil that have accumulated from the conflicts in your life.

Relax into the slow rhythm of inhaling peace, exhaling tension inhaling peace, exhaling tension inhaling peace, exhaling tension … and continue for a few minutes.

When you’re ready, open your eyes. As you return to your activities, be willing to see your conflicts with refreshed eyes. Notice what you might want to do differently. Let peace be your guide.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin. ~Mother Teresa
