Privacy Policy

This policy was last updated on February 6, 2009.

The Rhythm of Peace Project, which includes the Rhythm of Peace website, is a program of the Northwest Center for Health Promotion (NCHP), a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation based in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

The Northwest Center for Health Promotion is committed to protecting your personal privacy and safeguarding your personal information.  The following Privacy Policy describes our information-gathering and usage practices.  By accessing, you acknowledge and understand NCHP’s Privacy Policy and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described below.

NCHP does not sell, rent or share your information with anyone.

NCHP collects personal information from our users on various pages of the website in order to provide services, products, resources, and communications that users have requested.  Contact information is used to contact the user when necessary to provide information or fulfill a request.  We take every precaution to safeguard and protect your information online and off-line.

Users can access the My Account section to change and modify information previously provided.  The Rhythm of Peace community members’ online accounts are password protected and so are our off-line databases.
When one of our website forms asks users to enter sensitive information, such as credit card numbers when making a donation or placing an order, that transaction takes place on a secure server and is protected by the best encryption software in the industry—Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

NCHP partners with Empire Group, Inc. to host the website and to process credit card transactions.  These providers are not permitted to use or share any personal information for any other purpose.

NCHP uses industry-standard technology to keep any personal information entered on the site as secure as possible.  We also have put in place privacy protection control systems designed to ensure that your personal data remains safe and secure.

All NCHP employees who perform administrative functions on the website are obligated to abide by this privacy policy.  Employees who violate the Privacy Policy are subject to disciplinary action and may be terminated.

Only authorized NCHP employees servicing the website are permitted to have access to your personal information, and such access is limited by need.

The Rhythm of Peace website contains links to other websites that are intended to provide additional resources to users.  Related services and offerings with links from our website, including vendor sites, have their own privacy statements that can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding links within each respective website.  Online merchants and others who participate in NCHP’s services are encouraged to participate in industry privacy initiatives and to take a responsible attitude towards consumer privacy.  However, since we do not have direct control over the policies or practices of participating merchants and other third parties, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or contents of those sites.  We recommend and encourage that you always review the privacy policies of merchants and other third parties before you provide any personal information or complete any transaction with such parties.

NCHP makes message boards available to our users who create a membership account.  It’s important to be aware that any information disclosed on public message boards becomes public information.  Please exercise appropriate care when deciding to disclose your personal information.  NCHP is not responsible for any personal information that users choose to submit.  NCHP specifically advises users not to provide information they regard as sensitive, such as email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, or financial information.

NCHP collects certain information from and about our users in three ways: directly from our Web Server logs, directly from the user, and with Cookies.

NCHP uses cookies to personalize or enhance your user experience.  A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server.  Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time.  For example, as you navigate within a site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits.  This eases site navigation by providing and saving your preferences and login information as well as providing personalized functionality.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies.  Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies.  If you reject cookies by changing your browser settings, please be aware that this may disable some of the functionality on our website.

c.    Users’ Personal Information

Visitors to our website can sign up to become a community member, purchase products, and make tax-deductible donations.  We will request some personal information such as your name, address, email, telephone number, and other relevant information.  If you are purchasing a product or making a donation, we will request financial information.  Any financial information we collect is used only to complete these transactions.  If you purchase by credit card, this information will be forwarded to your credit card provider.

NCHP reserves the right to amend this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be immediately posted to this Privacy Policy and to any other pages we deem appropriate to support users in staying current with our policies regarding their personal information.

There are rare circumstances where NCHP may be required to disclose personal information. We will only do so if we believe in good faith that the law requires it for the protection of our legal rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our organization.

NCHP is very committed to protecting children. We encourage parents to regularly monitor and supervise their children's on-line activities.  NCHP does not encourage children under 13 to participate in any activities suggested on the website.  NCHP does encourage parents to communicate with their children about using the peace-building and stress reducing tools offered on the site in daily life circumstances.
